Young feminists around the world are mobilizing for the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), with support from UN Women. The Global Youth and Adolescent Recommendations process invites young people, particularly adolescent girls, young women, and gender-diverse youth, to share concrete policy recommendations that will shape global advocacy on gender equality and access to justice.
In 2024, over 16,000 recommendations were received, influencing Youth Forums, side events, and dialogues at the Commission on the Status of Women. This year, the process continues to ensure that youth voices drive change at every level of decision-making.
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is a functional commission of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) that meets every March in New York. CSW serves as the world’s largest intergovernmental gathering focused on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The 70th session (CSW70) will take place from March 9 to 20, 2026, under the priority theme:
“Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices, and addressing structural barriers.”
The session will continue to be guided by the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, with attention to 12 critical areas such as education, health, participation in decision-making, the economy, violence against women, and the rights of the girl child.
The Global Youth and Adolescent Recommendations are a civil society–driven initiative that compiles youth-led policy priorities and demands for gender equality. Led by young feminist organizers with the support of UN Women, the process gathers recommendations through open calls, local consultations, and online submissions.
The resulting compilation serves as an advocacy tool for youth and adolescent representatives during CSW, helping to align policy priorities, brief delegations, and ensure that young voices influence the agreed conclusions and global policy outcomes.
Youth, adolescent leaders, and organizations are invited to:
