Tuition & Aid

Please register for our free Tuition & Financial Aid(link is external) webinar for more information.

For YYGS Residential students, the full program tuition for one, 2-week session is $7,000 USD.

Please note that tuition covers all on-campus components of the program (housing, meals, curriculum materials, air chilled rooms, etc.), but travel is not covered due to our program size and the legal and logistical limitations of working with globally diverse families.
YYGS offers Need-Based Financial Aid (covering up to the full cost of tuition) for all domestic and international students, and then all students coordinate and pay/fundraise to cover their transportation needs.
Please note that any/all YYGS tuition payments made are non-refundable, except in extreme circumstances such as visa denial or family medical emergency where documentation can be provided to YYGS (e.g., of good faith attempts to secure a visa, with an official doctor’s note from a non-relative).

Payment Deadlines:

Full tuition payment is due on December 17, 2025 for Early Action admits, and March 15, 2026 for Regular Decision admits.

How to Pay:

Tuition fees are paid using a payment gateway, since YYGS uses external payment processors to accommodate both domestic and international applicants. Tuition payments can be subject to processing fees by the external payment processor (Slate or FlyWire). Students can access this gateway by logging into their application, which will direct them to the Application Status page.

For domestic applicants or anyone wishing to make payment in USD, including eChecks from U.S. bank account, or Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express credit or debit cards, our application will automatically route you to pay through Slate as the payment processor.
For international applicants or anyone wishing to make payment in foreign currency, including bank wire, foreign credit or debit cards, and other native options, like Alipay and UnionPay, our application will automatically route you to pay through Flywire as the payment processor.

Academics

Yale Young Global Scholars emphasizes an open, exploratory, and collaborative approach to learning. Our program is designed to allow students to experience learning in a variety of different university contexts, from large lectures to small seminars, and even the spontaneous learning that happens outside the classroom in conversations with one another. Please visit the Residential Life webpage for a sample student schedule.

  • With no grades or course credit, YYGS encourages students to approach all aspects of the program creatively with the understanding that they set their own limits. Students receive an electronic certificate of completion at the end of the session.
  • The diverse and inclusive community at YYGS enhances learning by inviting students to analyze issues from multiple perspectives. Living and learning alongside peers from around the world allows students to broaden their own world views by learning about countries and cultures they have never encountered before.
  • Explore Yale by living on campus and taking advantage of opportunities that the Yale community offers.

Curriculum

The curriculum ties together all YYGS sessions and is the foundation of the academic program. Students work with a different group of peers and learning contexts, which allows for a wide range of peer-to-peer interaction. These learning contexts include:

Breakout Discussions Dig deeper into lecture content by sharing knowledge, posing questions, and brainstorming real-world implications with a small group of peers.
Capstone Project Brainstorm and explore a collaborative project under the mentorship of YYGS staff.
Family Time Develop strong bonds with peers from around the world through identity reflection, courageous conversations, active listening, and fun social activities.
Lectures Hear from accomplished Yale faculty and leading practitioners about the most important and relevant topics in their fields.
Seminars Pursue your passion or find a new one through the 150+ unique and exciting seminars offered each summer.
Symposium Join an immersive, hands-on activity to explore topics within your academic track.
