United Way Announces Summer Learning Grant Opportunities – Berks Community Television

Grant focus: Early grade reading proficiency.
From United Way of Berks County
Improving early grade reading and building a strong community are at the center of United Way’s work. The organization is pleased to support this focus area through summer learning grant opportunities.
Summer Learning Grants are open to schools and organizations serving Pre-K through 3rd-grade Berks County students. “Early literacy is one of the strongest predictors of academic success, economic stability, and community well-being. It is important for children to be exposed to and connected with literacy and learning activities year-long, including the summer months. United Way grant opportunities help students retain academic skills and lessen the summer learning loss,” said Tammy White, president of United Way of Berks County.
These grants provide up to $5,000 in support for summer learning programming. Proposed programming must include a literacy component but may include cross-disciplinary activities, i.e., STEAM. Any school or nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization is eligible to apply. The funds are to help cover expenses related to summer programming from June through August 2026. All programs must include an evaluation element to measure the outcome or success of the literacy component.
Applications for Summer Learning Grants will be accepted beginning Monday, Jan. 12, through Sunday, Feb. 15. Notice of funding will be made by March 27, with grants awarded in April.
Full eligibility and details on this grant opportunity are available at United Way’s website at www.uwberks.org.
Grant proposals and final reports must be electronically submitted via e-CImpact, a software tool accessed via United Way’s website (www.uwberks.org). Proposals will be awarded through a competitive process. A committee of community volunteers, including representatives of the United Way committee and board members, will review and evaluate applications, including programming plans.
For questions or technical assistance with e-CImpact, contact Amanda Hansen, Community Impact Program Manager, at amandah@uwberks.org or 610-685-4582.
Fantastic work and thanks so much for the quick turnaround!  Always a pleasure to work with you and the rest of the BCTV team!
Thank you for always being receptive to my ideas. All of your efforts help me to help others and that is a blessing to me.
I wanted to thank you again for the opportunity you have created for our kids.  This experience is more than the TV show.  Eight students who probably never would have talked to each other were excited to execute a plan. Know that you make a difference.
I am happy and proud to be a part of such a dedicated assembly of talent and purpose. Thank you for being a part of my efforts to promote theater and the arts in this region.
Thanks for your commitment to communication far and wide, for your technical support, and tireless efforts to bring fresh programs to BCTV. Bravo!
Wish my town had a channel like this, very cool idea to bring the community together and give people a platform.
Thank you and your staff for all you do to accommodate so many different shows, personalities, etc.!  Can’t be easy, but we really do appreciate it.
