The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides a comprehensive four-year scholarship for high-achieving, financially needy U.S. students. In addition to funding, JRF supports scholars through leadership training, mentorship, internships, and lifelong networking.

Who Is Eligible?
To apply for the JRF Scholarship, you must:
- Be a graduating high school senior
- Be a United States citizen
- Demonstrate financial need
- Have a record of academic excellence and community leadership
- Plan to attend an accredited four-year U.S. college or university (or one affiliated with a U.S.-based institution)
- Have not completed more than 25% of college credits at the time of application
What You Will Receive
As a JRF Scholar, you gain access to:
- A four-year scholarship, up to USD 35,000 total
- The “42 Strategies for Success” leadership curriculum
- Year-round mentorship from JRF alumni, staff, and community leaders
- Internship and job placement support through JRF’s corporate and university partners
- Annual Mentoring & Leadership Conference in New York City
- A requirement to complete community service, gaining practical experience while contributing to others
- Access to additional fellowship programs, including:
- Rachel Robinson International Fellowship for global service or study
- Extra Innings Fellowship for advanced or graduate training
What Is the Application Process?
Your application must include:
- One recommendation letter
- High school transcript (unofficial is acceptable)
- College plan and goals
- Household financial information (CSS Profile required)
- Four essays detailing your motivation, experience, and vision
- Optional test scores (AP, IB, PSAT, SAT, ACT)

How to Prepare
- Start your CSS Profile early and gather financial documents
- Think deeply about your essays — highlight your leadership experience, community service, and future goals
- Choose a recommender who knows you well (teacher, coach, mentor) and ask early
- Attend JRF’s virtual Q&A session if offered — it’s a good way to clarify application questions
