Robert Schuman Traineeships in the European Parliament — 502 Paid Traineeships Available

If you’re a recent graduate looking to gain paid international experience in European policy, law, or public administration, the Robert Schuman Traineeships in the European Parliament offer a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the European Union.

Applications are now open for the October 2025 traineeship period, and the deadline to apply is 31 May 2025 (23:59 Brussels time).

This prestigious and competitive programme allows young professionals to contribute to the daily work of one of the world’s most influential legislative bodies while building valuable experience and networks in a multicultural and multilingual environment.

What Are Schuman Traineeships?

The Robert Schuman Traineeships are five-month paid internships offered by the European Parliament at its official offices in Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, or at its Liaison Offices across EU Member States.

Trainees work within the Parliament’s Secretariat and other departments, supporting legislative, research, communication, and administrative functions.

Named after Robert Schuman, one of the founding fathers of European integration, the programme reflects the Parliament’s commitment to fostering understanding, participation, and engagement in EU affairs.

Benefits of a Schuman Traineeship

  • Paid traineeship with a competitive monthly grant

  • Work experience at the core of EU policymaking

  • Opportunities across diverse fields — law, policy, finance, administration, communication, IT, and multilingualism

  • Access to a large professional network within EU institutions

  • High-performing trainees may be considered for the Schuman Recruitment and Development Programme — a pathway to future employment

  • Additional support for candidates with disabilities through the Positive Action Scheme

This traineeship enhances both your academic and professional development, serving as an ideal stepping stone for careers in international development, diplomacy, European affairs, and public policy.
