TheDream.US Scholarship 2026–2027: Applications Open for Undocumented Students

TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college access and success program for undocumented immigrant students, has announced the opening of its 2026–2027 scholarship application round.

Undocumented students — with or without DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) or TPS (Temporary Protected Status) — can apply for two major scholarship opportunities that make higher education more accessible and affordable.

About TheDream.US

TheDream.US provides life-changing scholarships to highly motivated, first-generation immigrant students—often referred to as Dreamers—who aspire to earn a college degree but face financial and legal barriers.

Because undocumented students are not eligible for federal financial aid, and often have limited or no access to state aid, TheDream.US bridges the gap by offering two distinct scholarships:

  • The National Scholarship – for students eligible for in-state tuition at Partner Colleges.
  • The Opportunity Scholarship – for students living in “locked-out” states without access to in-state tuition.

1. The National Scholarship

The National Scholarship is designed for Dreamers who qualify for in-state tuition at one of TheDream.US’s Partner Colleges.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be undocumented with or without DACA or TPS.
  • Must have entered the U.S. before the age of 16 and before November 1, 2020.
  • Must qualify for in-state tuition at a Partner College.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Up to $16,500 for an associate’s degree.
  • Up to $33,000 for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Additional stipend of up to $6,000 for books, supplies, and transportation.
  • Renewable annually through completion of a bachelor’s degree.

The National Scholarship is often described as the “Pell Grant” for Dreamers—a transformative financial aid opportunity for students pursuing college despite significant barriers. Selection prioritizes students’ academic promise, community involvement, and resilience in the face of obstacles.

2. The Opportunity Scholarship

The Opportunity Scholarship serves undocumented students who live in targeted locked-out states, where they are either required to pay out-of-state tuition or are denied admission to public universities because of their immigration status.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must reside in a locked-out state.
  • Must be undocumented with or without DACA or TPS.
  • Must have entered the U.S. before the age of 16 and before November 1, 2020.
  • Must gain admission to one of TheDream.US’s Opportunity Partner Colleges out of state.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Up to $100,000 to cover tuition, fees, on-campus housing, and meals for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Renewable annually through degree completion, provided the student maintains full-time enrollment and meets all eligibility requirements.

The Opportunity Scholarship offers a pathway to higher education for students in states that otherwise limit or block their access to college.
