The Habitat Foundation Grants 2026: Empowering Biodiversity, Sustainability, and Environmental Leadership in Malaysia

The Habitat Foundation (THF) is pleased to announce the opening of its 2026 Grants Programme, a powerful initiative designed to support individuals and organisations working at the forefront of biodiversity conservation and sustainability in Malaysia.

About the THF Grants

The Habitat Foundation Grants are awarded under five strategic pillars:

  • Conservation

  • Research

  • Education

  • Sustainability

  • Training

THF supports a wide range of environmental practitioners including students, researchers, community leaders, educators, and conservation organisations. The grants are designed to advance meaningful work that strengthens species protection, enhances the management of protected areas, and builds long-term capacity in environmental sustainability and education.

Who Can Apply?

Grants are open to:

  • Environmental practitioners

  • Academicians

  • Students

  • Researchers

  • Trainers and community members

Projects must be implemented within Malaysia, and preference is given to initiatives based in the Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve.

Maximum Grant Amount: RM50,000
Eligible Activities: Projects must demonstrate a clear impact in one or more of THF’s five pillars.
Not Eligible: Purely academic or theoretical research without a practical conservation or community impact.

How to Apply

Interested applicants must complete a Concept Proposal consisting of four sections. Proposals can be submitted in English or Bahasa Malaysia. All required documents must be uploaded via the THF Grants Application Platform.

Required Documents Include:

  • A project proposal

  • Profile and subject/location photos

  • Map of project area

  • Supporting files (max 5MB per file; larger files can be submitted via external links such as Google Drive or Dropbox)

Important: Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal or attend an interview. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
