Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Émile Boutmy Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be first-time applicants to Sciences Po.
  • Be citizens of non-European Union countries whose households do not file taxes within the EU.
  • Have received admission to an eligible Undergraduate or Master’s program at Sciences Po.

Not Eligible:

  • Swiss and Norwegian citizens (eligible for other aid).
  • Applicants with dual EU citizenship.
  • Candidates from Quebec applying for Master’s programs (Bachelor’s applicants from Quebec are eligible).
  • Applicants for Journalism dual-degree programs, one-year Master’s programs, or PhD programs.
  • Dual-degree Master’s applicants except for:
    • Journalism (Sciences Po/Columbia University)
    • Europe-Asia in Global Affairs (Sciences Po/Fudan University – Chinese nationals only)
    • Sciences Po/Peking University (Chinese nationals only)
  • Exchange and internal admission procedure applicants.

Scholarship Benefits

The Émile Boutmy Scholarship provides financial support based on academic merit and program level:

  • Undergraduate Students:
    • May receive between €3,600 and €13,190 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program.
  • Master’s Students:
    • May receive a €13,100 grant per year for two years of study.

The scholarship may be combined with external funding such as the Eiffel Scholarship, AEFE, or French government aid. However, it cannot be combined with other internal Sciences Po scholarships (e.g., Mastercard Foundation, CARE, Fondation de France/René Seydoux).

Selection Process

The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic excellence and the profile relevance to Sciences Po’s international mission. Only applicants admitted to eligible programs will be considered.

Please note:

  • Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed.
  • Students cannot apply for the scholarship after admission or during their studies.
  • Applicants who were previously refused for this scholarship cannot reapply in the same admission cycle.
