Unearthodox is proud to announce the open call for the Sparks of Regeneration Programme, an initiative designed to support and amplify the efforts of innovators, disruptors, and change-makers who are reimagining the future through regenerative practices. In a time of pressing global challenges – climate change, biodiversity loss, social inequities, and fragile governance systems – this programme creates a unique platform to support ideas and projects that bring healing, resilience, and justice into practice.
This open call is not simply about funding projects. It is about nurturing a global ecosystem of regenerative practices, where innovators can exchange ideas, co-create solutions, and contribute to the paradigm shift toward life-affirming systems. Selected participants will receive not only financial resources but also mentorship, peer learning opportunities, and global visibility.
If you are developing a project rooted in reciprocity, interdependence, and the power of regenerative systems, this is your invitation to apply.
Who We Are Looking For
The Sparks of Regeneration programme seeks individuals and organizations who are advancing early-stage ideas or existing innovations with transformative potential. Unlike many accelerators or incubators that focus solely on scalability and profit-driven growth, this programme emphasizes projects that can demonstrate deep alignment with regenerative principles.
We are not looking for:
- Completely untested, brand-new ideas that have no grounding in reality.
- Mature, established projects that seek only to scale without significant shifts in approach or design.
Instead, we are prioritizing innovations that:
- Integrate social equity and community-led approaches.
- Embrace systems thinking and recognize the interconnectedness of ecological, social, and economic systems.
- Reimagine human relationships with natural systems and nonhuman kin.
- Give back more than they take, healing rather than harming.
Areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Nature conservation in its broadest sense.
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation.
- Food systems and sustainable agriculture.
- Health and well-being.
- Education and transformative learning.
- Governance, equity, and justice systems.
Projects should demonstrate how they nurture relationships that sustain life across species, scales, and generations.

Rethinking Nature Conservation
One of the central pillars of the Sparks of Regeneration programme is its expanded vision of nature conservation. Conservation here is not confined to the traditional model of protecting species and habitats. Instead, it encompasses:
- Ecosystem restoration: Restoring degraded environments to enhance biodiversity and resilience.
- Community stewardship: Strengthening local governance and community ownership of natural resources.
- Systems coexistence: Reimagining how human and ecological systems can thrive together in reciprocal ways.
This approach is rooted in the belief that regeneration requires both ecological and cultural transformation, acknowledging that many communities already hold deep regenerative knowledge that can shape the global transition.
Core Questions for Innovators
Applicants are invited to reflect on the following guiding questions:
- Who and what does your innovation serve? Consider the communities, ecosystems, and generations impacted by your project.
- How does it nurture relationships that sustain life? Does it promote reciprocity across species and systems?
- How does your design incorporate the voices of natural systems? For example, are landscapes, ecosystems, and nonhuman kin acknowledged as stakeholders?
- How will your innovation remain accountable to places and ecosystems? Beyond people, what other systems are you designing for?
What We Offer
The Sparks of Regeneration programme provides a rich ecosystem of support for selected innovators:
- Financial Grant
- Up to CHF 10,000 to move your idea from vision to action.
- Shared Non-Financial Support
- Access to a collective pool of up to CHF 50,000 for services including storytelling, systems mapping, and strategic support.
- Incubation Journey

The aim is to move beyond financial resources by providing holistic support, ensuring innovations are nurtured, celebrated, and connected to global movements.
Regeneration: More Than a Trend
For Unearthodox, regeneration is not a buzzword or a passing trend—it is a paradigm shift. It represents a transformation in how we think about development, conservation, equity, and sustainability. Regeneration challenges extractive systems and fosters a worldview where care, interdependence, and reciprocity are the foundation of thriving societies.
This open call is designed to highlight and amplify regenerative practices that are already in motion, often unrecognized or underfunded. Many communities—particularly Indigenous peoples and grassroots innovators—have practiced regenerative living for generations. By centering these practices, Unearthodox seeks to amplify voices and solutions that disrupt dominant models of exploitation.
Understanding Regeneration
Over the past year, Unearthodox has engaged in deep inquiry into what regeneration means in the context of conservation, systems change, and justice. This exploration has revealed that regeneration cannot be reduced to a single definition. Instead, it is plural and contextual, shaped by place, culture, and ecosystems.
Some of the insights include:
- Tensions in practice: Regenerative principles often conflict with real-world systems designed for short-term gain and extraction.
- What regeneration is not: It is not greenwashing, nor simply about sustainable practices that maintain the status quo.
- Core dimensions of practice: Regeneration is about restoring life systems, fostering resilience, centering justice, and enabling reciprocity.
- The pluriversal nature of regeneration: It is rooted in multiple truths, diverse cultural perspectives, and ecological realities.
In short, regeneration is not prescriptive. It is about practice, people, and place.
