QUINCY — The Quincy Breakfast Kiwanis Club recently awarded a scholarship to a local graduating senior. Based on applications received, the awardee for the 2025-26 school year was Adeline Schuster from Quincy Notre Dame. The scholarship, in the amount of $1,000, is awarded to assist with college expenses for the 2025-26 school year.
Schuster is the daughter of Brian and Rebecca Schuster. She plans on attending the University of South Florida-Tampa as part of the national Naval ROTC program. Her future goals include becoming a pilot. Schuster was a four-year member of the QND Key Club.
The scholarship seeks to assist one student from Quincy Notre Dame and one from Quincy Senior High who meet the formal requirements. Each applicant must be a graduating senior attending either Quincy Notre Dame High School or Quincy Senior High School and have been a Key Club member for at least two school years.
Special attention is given to each student’s level of involvement in the community through volunteering and impact. Further, applicants must write an essay about his/her most exciting Key Club community service project or achievement. The essay included the project/achievement description and purpose, how many other volunteers, if any, worked with them on the project, what they learned and how they benefited from the experience. The essay also addressed what kind of community service they expect to do at college and later in life.
“Through the hard work of the Quincy Breakfast Kiwanis Club, we are honored to provide this deserving Key Club student with a scholarship, and we wish Addie the very best in her academic growth at the collegiate level,” said Pat Bauer, president of the Quincy Gem City Breakfast Kiwanis Club. “Getting our youth involved in community service through our local Key Clubs is a terrific start in hopes they find the experience of making a difference as rewarding as we do”, said Bauer.
