The Weill Cornell Medicine Division of Biostatistics is now accepting applications for its Paid Biostatistics Summer Internship Program for Summer 2026. This competitive, fully funded research internship provides undergraduate students with hands-on experience in public health data analysis, mentorship from experienced biostatisticians, and exposure to real-world health research in New York City.

Compensation: $5,000 wage stipend

This 7-week program is designed for students interested in data analytics, health equity, medicine, public health, and quantitative research careers.
Interns collaborate in small teams to:
Conceptualize a statistical analysis plan
Clean and manage real data sets
Conduct data analysis using R
Interpret and report findings
Present a research poster at the conclusion of the program
Participants gain foundational and advanced exposure to biostatistics through:
Introductory R Programming Crash Course (first week)
Weekly lectures on methods and applications in public health data
Research Spotlight sessions led by WCM biostatisticians
Career development lectures focused on academic and industry pathways
Interns receive individualized support through weekly check-ins with a biostatistician mentor, featuring:
Career guidance and graduate school insights
Resume and professional skills development
Networking and research career exploration

Eligibility and Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate student or recent graduate (any major considered)
Strong interest in public health, biostatistics, healthcare analytics, population health, or research
Prior R programming experience is beneficial but not required
