Orange County Families Urged to Claim CalKIDS Scholarships as School Year Begins – Fullerton Observer

Helping families claim their CalKIDS Scholarships

Back-to-school comes with a big opportunity for Orange County families: $148 million in CalKIDS Scholarships already invested in Orange County alone, part of California’s $2 billion statewide commitment to higher education.
Through CalKIDS, more than half of all Orange County public school students in grades 2–12 are eligible for up to $1,500 each in scholarship funds. These dollars can be used for tuition, books, school supplies, or even computers at accredited colleges, universities, and career training programs nationwide.
State Treasurer Fiona Ma calls back-to-school the “perfect time to claim your CalKIDS Scholarship,” emphasizing that these aren’t just dollars, but investments in children’s futures.” Students echo this impact: “It has helped me improve my bank account to save up for the moment I transfer out of community college into a university,” said Emily Ramirez, CalKIDS Recipient and Student from Santa Ana College.
Families can quickly check eligibility and claim their scholarship online by clicking here to visit CalKIDS.org and entering their child’s 10-digit Statewide Student Identifier (SSID).
