The Oak Lawn Police Club has selected two students to receive the Ruben Flores Scholarships. The award is named in honor of an Oak Lawn police officer who died from cancer in 2021.
Earning honors were Elizabeth Schmidt, daughter of Commander Joe Schmidt, who will be attending the University of Missouri as a psychology major, and Maureen Regan, daughter of retired Officer Jim Regan, who will be attending Vassar College and major in biology and pre-med.
Presenting the awards at the July 22 Village Board meeting was Detective Joe Daddona, who is also the president of the Oak Lawn Police Club.
