NICEVILLE — A local caregiver and veteran has been awarded a full scholarship to a university.
Niceville resident Edward Cook cares for his wife full time. She suffered major injuries during her service in the Marine Corps. Cook himself had served 19 years as a U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret.
He was one of seven caretakers awarded a Pillars of Strength Scholarship from the University of Maryland Global Campus. A news release from the university said he plans to start an MBA program in the fall.
