The 2026 Internship Program provides young Africans with limited or no professional experience the chance to gain hands-on exposure to international development, program management, and social impact initiatives. Interns will work closely with Foundation teams to support projects, operations, and partnerships that drive youth employment and economic transformation.

To be eligible for the Mastercard Foundation 2026 Internship Program, you must meet the following criteria:
Be eligible to work in one of the seven participating African countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, or Uganda
Be a recent graduate with 0–4 years of professional experience
Hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in any relevant field
Demonstrate a strong interest in youth development, social impact, and inclusive growth in Africa
Show active involvement in community projects or extracurricular activities
Be available for full-time work for the entire 11-month internship
Mastercard Foundation Scholar Alumni must not be currently enrolled in a program of study or participating in another Foundation initiative
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and/or Google Workspace
Ability to thrive in multicultural and collaborative environments
A passion for innovation, learning, and driving change in Africa
Strong organizational and time management abilities

Legal and Compliance – Law, International Relations, Criminal Justice
Office of the CEO – Strategic support and leadership initiatives
People & Culture – Human resources, organizational development, and staff engagement
Digital, Data, Information, and Technology – Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, Data Analysis, Enterprise Application Systems
