SUNY told its colleges and universities to review any scholarships targeted to specific races, genders or historically unrepresented groups due to new legal constraints posed by a 2023 Supreme Court decision on affirmative action, state records show.
But over the past two years, New York’s public college system had said little publicly about how it was working with its 64 campuses to potentially halt scholarships based on factors impacted by that 2023 court decision.
