Grant funding at the Song Foundation is rooted in a commitment to trust-based philanthropy that reimagines the traditional relationship between funders and nonprofits. We aim to challenge the inherent power dynamics in the grantmaking process by prioritizing transparency, simplicity, and mutual respect.
Our goal is to be the least burdensome partner possible for our grantees. We strive to make our grant processes easy to navigate and free from unnecessary complexity, ensuring our support is a catalyst—not a hurdle—for your work.
Our Grantmaking Principles
We uphold the following practices across all of our funding work:
Clear, consistent communication
Streamlined grant requests
Right-sized application and reporting processes
Proactive support during the grant process
Regularly solicited feedback from grantees
