Mumbai, Dec 22 : The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has registered more than 11.25 lakh micro and small enterprises (MSEs) on its platform as of November 30, 2025, the Commerce Ministry stated on Sunday.
Collectively, these sellers have secured orders worth Rs 7.44 lakh crore, accounting for 44.8% of the total transactions on GeM, surpassing the mandated 25% target for procurement from MSEs. This underscores the growing role of smaller enterprises in India’s public procurement ecosystem.
Women-led enterprises are making a significant contribution to this growth. Over 2 lakh women-owned MSEs are active on GeM, having secured cumulative orders worth Rs 78,066 crore. Initiatives like Womaniya, aimed at onboarding, training, and enhancing access to procurement opportunities for women entrepreneurs, have supported this increased participation.
Highlighting notable performances, the Ministry cited a women-led MSE from Gujarat, FS Green Energies Pvt Ltd, Vadodara, which supplied renewable energy solutions worth over Rs 53 crore to the Department of Heavy Industries in November 2025. Similarly, an SC/ST-owned MSE, Infrastructure Development and Management Services, Nagpur, Maharashtra, delivered surveillance infrastructure valued at Rs 29 crore to the central government, while Mumbai-based startup Cloudstrats Technologies Pvt Ltd secured technology service contracts worth Rs 191 crore.
GeM allows buyers to filter and identify products from MSEs, including women-led and SC/ST enterprises, enhancing visibility and access to procurement opportunities for these businesses.
