This scholarship provides financial aid to students from Africa, South Asia, and select Commonwealth countries, covering either 50% or 100% of tuition fees for a full-time master’s degree at the University of Nottingham.

    The scholarship is intended for individuals who can propose innovative development solutions addressing key challenges in economic, environmental, structural, social, or political spheres within their home countries.

    Scholarship Details

    • Tuition Fee Coverage: 50% or 100% of tuition fees for one-year, full-time master’s courses.
    • Eligibility: Open to students from Africa, India, and selected Commonwealth nations.
    • Application Deadline: April 16, 2025.
    • Available Fields of Study: Scholarships are available for master’s programs within the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Social Sciences.

    Eligibility Requirements

    To be eligible for the Developing Solutions Scholarship, applicants must:

    • Reside in Africa, India, or a selected Commonwealth country.
    • Be classified as an overseas student for fee purposes.
    • Hold an offer for a full-time master’s program (including MRes) for the 2025/26 academic year at the University of Nottingham in eligible faculties.

    Ineligibility

    Applicants are not eligible if they:

    • Are current or former students of the University of Nottingham.
    • Have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree outside their home country*.
    • Are currently studying in the UK.

    *Note: If prior studies were in an eligible Developing Solutions country, applications may still be considered case-by-case.

    How to Apply

    To apply for this scholarship:

    1. Secure an offer to study a full-time master’s course at the University of Nottingham for the 2025/26 academic year.
    2. After receiving an offer, apply for the scholarship through the NottinghamHub system.

    Application Criteria

    The selection process prioritizes applicants who can clearly articulate a vision and a specific plan to address development challenges in their home countries. Strong applications will demonstrate how their chosen field of study will equip them to make an impact. Applicants should note the importance of adhering to word count limits, as responses exceeding these limits may not be considered.

    Scholarship Requirements

    • Accepting the Scholarship: Scholarships are awarded only to students who accept their study offer.
    • Award Notification: Applicants will be notified of their scholarship status by the end of May 2025.
    • Scholarship Application Conditions: Scholarships cover tuition fees and are not paid directly to students. Scholarship recipients may not combine this award with other University of Nottingham scholarships.
