British Embassy Paris: Internship Opportunities 2025

The British Embassy in Paris is offering three exciting internship opportunities for students interested in international relations, politics, economics, and communications. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience in diplomacy and UK-France relations.

Position Overview

Duration: 4 months
Start Date: November 3, 2025
Stipend: €1,000 gross per month
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Number of Positions: 3 internships across different teams

Available Teams

You can indicate your preference for one of these three specialized teams:

1. Economics and Political Section (EPS)

Work on France’s political and economic developments and UK-France collaboration. Teams include:

  • Bilateral and Political Team
  • Economic, Social and Sustainability Team
  • European Affairs Team
  • Science and Technology Team

Key responsibilities: Policy analysis, research, reporting, strategic engagement, and supporting major Embassy events and UK ministerial visits.

2. National Security and Foreign Policy (NSFP)

Focus on international security and diplomatic cooperation between the UK and France. Teams include:

  • Foreign and Development Policy teams
  • Migration and Borders team
  • National Security team

Key responsibilities: Supporting UK policy makers, strategic engagement with think tanks, organizing foreign policy events, and building relationships across the British Government network.

3. Communications and Engagement

Handle UK government communications in France across three teams:

  • Media: Managing French media relationships and social media
  • Visits: Coordinating UK government representative visits
  • Public Diplomacy: Outreach work with French public

Key responsibilities: Media relations, translating press releases, supporting high-level visits, social media management, and cultural initiatives.

Eligibility Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Language Skills: Excellent French and English (minimum C1 level CEFR)
  • Education: Currently enrolled in university degree in relevant field (Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Communications, etc.)
  • Legal Requirements: Must provide internship agreement (“Convention de stage”) from your university
  • Work Authorization: Independent right to live and work in France
  • Technical Skills: Confident MS Office user

Personal Qualities Required

  • Interest in business, economics, foreign policy, and UK-France relations
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Resourceful research abilities and creative problem-solving
  • Flexibility to engage in diverse tasks

Desirable but Not Essential

  • Interest in international settings
  • Social media or creative experience (especially for Communications role)
