Applications Open for the 2026 Internet Society Youth Ambassador Program

Are you a young leader passionate about Internet governance, digital rights, and shaping the future of the Internet? The Internet Society’s 2026 Youth Ambassador Program is now accepting applications—and this is your opportunity to join a global network of emerging Internet leaders committed to building an open, secure, and trustworthy Internet.

What Is the Youth Ambassador Program?

Each year, the Internet Society selects 15 exceptional young people (ages 18–30) from around the world to participate in a 12-month leadership and advocacy program.

Youth Ambassadors receive advanced training, global networking opportunities, and mentorship from top Internet governance experts. They also attend a major Internet event selected specifically for their profile and interests.

This program empowers young leaders to collaborate, innovate, and advocate for a better digital future.

Become an Internet Society Youth Ambassador!

Each year, the Internet Society chooses fifteen young, passionate people to participate in the Youth Ambassador Program, equipping the next generation of Internet leaders to collaborate and innovate for a better world.

Am I Eligible?

Applications are now open.

All applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 18–30 at the date of the submitted application

  • Have a high level of reading, speaking, and writing skills in English

  • Be comfortable with public speaking and communicating positions

  • Have continuous Internet access during all phases of the program and the appropriate equipment

  • Be able to dedicate a minimum of 4 hours per week during the 12-month program

  • Be available for weekly meetings and webinars, usually between 11:00 and 16:00 UTC

  • Be able to travel internationally and hold a valid passport

  • Not have been previously selected as:

    • IGF Ambassador

    • IGF Youth Ambassador

    • Youth@IGF Fellow

    • Youth Ambassador

What’s the Selection Process?

There is an annual selection process, with applications for each intake opening in the fall. The process has two phases:

1. Online Application

A selection committee reviews all applications without identifying demographic information. The committee—composed of Internet Society staff, alumni, and leaders from Chapters, Special Interest Groups, and Standing Groups—scores candidates on:

  • Alignment with Internet Society’s mission and vision

  • Demonstrated efforts in building, promoting, and defending an open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet

2. Online Internet Governance Course

The highest-scoring applicants take an online course on Internet governance. Participants are divided into three classes, each facilitated by a dedicated tutor.

The 15 top-rated students are chosen for the program.

The Program

As a Youth Ambassador, you are equipped with knowledge and skills to influence policies that defend the Internet while innovating for a better world.

You will also have the opportunity to attend an event especially selected for you according to your preferences, profile, and location.
