DOWNEY – On Monday, June 23 the beautiful garden at the Casa de Parley Johnson Estate was the setting for the Assistance League of Downey scholarship dinner.
Ten outstanding young men and women from Downey and Warren High Schools each received $1,000 and were honored for their many hours of volunteer service throughout the community.
Downey High School: Jana Abdelmonem, Samantha Mejia, Maria Vera Romero, Brianna Rosas, San T. Tia. Warren High School: Andra Campos, Max Lemoli, Noah Munoz, Madeline Saldana, Kera Walan.
In addition to our check, the students received recognition by Ari Ruiz from Assemblywoman Blanca Pacheco’s office, Mayor Pro Tem Dorothy Pemberton, Councilwoman Claudia M. Frometa, Downey Unified School District Board President Linda Saldana, and Board Member Nancy Swenson.
