Applications are now open for the 2026 Princeton in Asia (PiA) Fellowship Program, a fully funded opportunity for graduates to live and work across Asia. The program provides immersive fellowships that promote cross-cultural understanding between the United States and Asia while equipping participants with valuable professional experience.

Princeton in Asia (PiA) was established to strengthen mutual appreciation and cultural exchange between the United States and Asia. Through long-term work placements, fellows contribute directly to host organizations and local communities, while gaining unique professional and personal growth experiences.
For the 2026–2027 fellowship cycle, PiA expects to offer approximately 60 fully funded positions in the following countries and regions (subject to change based on local circumstances):

Princeton in Asia fellowships span multiple fields, making them accessible to candidates from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. Fellowship placements are expected in:
Arts and Culture
Economic Development
Education
Environmental Sustainability
Peace, Justice, and Access to Information
Public Health
Sports
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
Most fellowships begin between July and September 2026 and last for one to two years.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree before the fellowship begins.
Graduates of any accredited college or university are eligible to apply.
Candidates with master’s degrees may apply, but those holding a J.D., M.D., or Ph.D. are not eligible.
There is no age limit for applicants, though most fellows are recent graduates.
Citizens of any country may apply.
All candidates must demonstrate a strong rationale for how they will contribute to PiA’s mission of fostering U.S.–Asia exchange.
Local visa restrictions may impact placement eligibility for certain nationalities.
All positions require professional proficiency in English.
English teaching placements require native or near-native English fluency.
Asian language skills are valued but not required for most placements.
The Princeton in Asia Fellowship 2026–2027 is a fully funded program that provides fellows with comprehensive support, including:
A paid, immersive work placement at a host organization in Asia.
A living stipend designed to cover housing, groceries, local transportation, and basic communication costs.
Health and safety resources throughout the fellowship.
A pre-departure orientation program, including a 120-hour Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification for teaching fellows.
Reimbursement for visa expenses incurred in the United States.
Membership in the Princeton in Asia alumni network, offering long-term professional and personal connections.

Two written responses
A 60-second video introduction
A resume
An unofficial transcript
An anonymous demographic survey
One recommendation form completed by a chosen recommender
