The annual scholarship fundraiser for the Owatonna Branch of the American Association of University women (AAUW) will feature three new vendors this year. Taqueria Jalisco, Grapeful Wine Bar and MonFerment will join returning vendors Costas Candies, Candullo’s Coffee, Mizuki Fusion, Old Town Bagels,Owatonna Eagles, Owatonna Elk’s Club, Steve’s Meat Market, Torey’s Restaurant and Sparetime.Entertainment. They will be offering samples from their menus at this year’s Taste of Steele County.
The event will be hosted at the Owatonna Eagles on Monday Sept. 15 from 5-7 p.m. Admission to the event is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Tickets are available at Kottke Jewelers,the Eagles and from AAUW members.
The Taste of Steele County has been presented annually since 2010 by the American Association of University Women, Owatonna Branch to raise funds in support of their scholarships for Steele County women and girls.
The Owatonna branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has awarded the following scholarships for the 2025-2026 school year.
• Kate Havelka and Paytyn Struss were both awarded $1,000 scholarships. Kate is attending the College of St. Benedict majoring in elementary education. Paytyn is attending the University of St. Thomas majoring in biology with the intent to eventually enter the medical field.
AAUW has also awarded $1,000 scholarships to two women attending Riverland Community College and majoring in radiology: Citlaly Garza from Owatonna and Madelaine Stoen from Claremont.
