SA Women in Baseball Swing for an Opportunity at the World Cup – Good Things Guy

South Africa (11 November 2025) – A remarkable group of women is reshaping the face of our national sports story. In fields and training grounds across South Africa since 2022. These passionate trailblazers have been working against the odds to grow women’s baseball in South Africa. While it might be popular in countries like the United States, in South Africa, it’s a sport still finding its feet but already inspiring countless young girls to dream bigger.
With limited resources, these athletes have trained through every obstacle, competed on international stages, and proudly represented South Africa (all while covering their own costs). Every glove, bat, uniform, and plane ticket has been made possible through their own pockets, a testament to their belief in what they know they are able to achieve.
Their dream is to don the green and gold at the Women’s Baseball World Cup in the USA in 2026. An opportunity to show the world that they belong at the top tier of global sport.
This growing international movement, inspired by initiatives like the IWBC in the U.S., shows just how impactful such tournaments can be for promoting women in baseball. And what chance for the South African team to bring that same recognition and inspiration back home.
But as strong as their spirits are, they cannot take this journey alone. The team is calling on supporters, sponsors, and sports lovers across the country to stand with them. By helping fund travel, equipment, and training opportunities that will allow them to compete on equal footing.
Every contribution counts. It could be a donation, a sponsorship, or simply sharing their story. Your support could help turn their struggle into a victory for women’s sport and inspire the next generation to pick up a bat and believe in their power.
Together, let’s rally behind these phenomenal women, celebrate their courage, and help them take South Africa to the world stage.
