The School of Sustainability at Arizona State University (ASU) is inviting applications for a fully funded PhD position beginning in Fall 2026. This opportunity is ideal for passionate and driven students who want to contribute to building a clean, equitable, and resilient energy future.

The selected candidate will join a dynamic research group dedicated to advancing sustainable energy systems and addressing social and environmental challenges in the transition to a low-carbon future.

About the Research Group

The research group focuses on supporting the transition to an equitable and resilient energy system through innovative, data-driven research. The PhD student will contribute to one of the following key areas:

1. Electric Vehicle Access

2. Air Quality and Health Impacts of Decarbonization

Model and analyze the air quality and public health outcomes associated with strategies to decarbonize the transportation and electricity sectors. Research will emphasize disparities in health impacts and explore how clean energy transitions can promote healthier, fairer outcomes for all.

3. Energy Infrastructure Resilience

Assess the vulnerability of energy infrastructure to climate hazards such as wildfires, floods, and extreme weather. The research will identify at-risk communities and model the downstream impacts of these vulnerabilities on climate, air quality, and public health.
