Apply now for a 6-month paid Research Fellowship at Dalberg, a global impact consultancy. Work remotely from India on cutting-edge development topics. Deadline: August 10, 2025.

Are you passionate about tackling the world’s most complex development challenges? Do you thrive at the intersection of research, strategy, and innovation? If so, the Research Fellowship at Dalberg could be your next big leap.

Dalberg is inviting applications for a 6-month Research Fellowship under its newly launched Research & Thought Leadership Initiative, designed to build and share cutting-edge insights that shape how development work is conceptualized and implemented globally. With a competitive monthly stipend ranging between ₹200,000 – ₹260,000, this India-based opportunity offers remote flexibility, high-impact work, and the potential for a long-term role within one of the world’s leading impact consultancies.

What Is Dalberg?

Dalberg is not your typical consulting firm. It’s a global group of change-makers working at the forefront of social impact. Since its founding in 2001, Dalberg has grown into a diverse and inclusive network of over 600 professionals across 25+ locations worldwide. With over 90 languages spoken and nearly half of its leadership team being women, Dalberg is committed to equity and systemic transformation—both internally and through its work with clients.

The firm supports governments, communities, corporations, foundations, and international organizations, offering a unique blend of private-sector strategy expertise and deep contextual knowledge of the Global South. Clients include UNICEF, the World Bank, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, India’s NITI Aayog, and more.

About the Research Fellowship

The fellowship sits within Dalberg’s new Research & Thought Leadership Initiative, which aims to unlock the next wave of impact at scale by exploring themes that are currently underexplored or emerging in the development ecosystem. These include:

  • Philanthropic innovation and outcomes-based funding

  • Systems change and collective action measurement

  • Equity challenges in underrepresented areas like boys’ education

  • AI’s impact on education and work in the Global South

As a Fellow, you’ll contribute to bold, agenda-setting research. This isn’t a typical support role—you’ll lead original research, shape Dalberg’s voice in the development field, and potentially help launch an entire research institution within the firm.

Your Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will engage in a variety of high-impact tasks:

  • Conduct structured desk research, literature reviews, and case studies

  • Perform both qualitative and quantitative data analysis, including visualizing insights

  • Draft thought-provoking memos, blog posts, briefs, and research papers

  • Collaborate with Dalberg teams across the globe to extract insights from client-facing work

  • Assist in launching a quarterly online publication

  • Organize events such as roundtables on topics like climate-aligned funding or gender equity

  • Help shape the strategic vision and operational model of the Research Initiative

Who Should Apply?

Dalberg is looking for candidates who are curious, mission-driven, and conceptually rigorous. The ideal profile includes:

  • 4–8 years of experience in global development, research, policy, or consulting

  • A Master’s degree in fields such as public policy, sociology, international affairs, or data journalism (preferred)

  • Strong writing and communication skills with an ability to translate complex ideas into clear, impactful messages

  • Experience with tools like Stata, R, SPSS, or qualitative research platforms like NVivo or MAXQDA

  • Familiarity with at least one thematic focus area of the Research Initiative

  • A self-starter who thrives in ambiguous, dynamic environments

Why This Role Stands Out

This is not just another research internship. It’s an opportunity to:

  • Influence global development discourse

  • Work in a diverse, idea-rich, and high-trust environment

  • Be mentored by global leaders in strategy and development

  • Shape a potential new think tank or research hub within Dalberg

And importantly, for the right candidate, the role can evolve into a long-term leadership position within the Dalberg ecosystem.

Application Details

  • Location: India (Remote/Hybrid options available)

  • Duration: 6 months

  • Stipend: ₹200,000 – ₹260,000 per month
