The fight against climate change demands leadership that’s bold, inclusive, and creative — and women are at the forefront of that transformation. The Women4Climate Toronto Mentorship Program is helping women, trans women, and 2-spirit leaders turn their climate action ideas into impactful, community-driven solutions. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and funding support, this program equips emerging climate innovators with the tools and confidence to lead meaningful change in their communities.
Launched by the City of Toronto as part of its Live Green Toronto initiative, the Women4Climate Mentorship Program connects participants with experienced mentors from diverse sectors — including business, government, academia, and the non-profit world.
Over six months (January – July 2026), participants gain access to:
Personalized mentorship with three expert mentors
Knowledge Labs — practical workshops on climate policy, business strategy, communications, and finance
Networking opportunities with industry leaders and change makers
A $500 completion honourarium (subject to funding availability)
At the program’s conclusion, participants showcase their projects in a pitch competition, where winners receive grants — a top prize of $15,000, and $5,000 each for three runners-up — to help bring their climate initiatives to life.
The program is open to:
Individuals who identify as women, trans women, or 2-spirit
18 years or older
Living, working, or studying in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
Founders or project leads of an existing climate action initiative or start-up
The program strongly encourages applications from individuals representing diverse backgrounds, cultures, and abilities — especially those from equity-deserving communities
This program isn’t just about building projects — it’s about building leaders. Participants gain:
Guidance from Toronto’s leading professionals and entrepreneurs
Practical skills to scale their environmental or social enterprises
Funding and visibility through the final pitch competition
Community and connection with other women driving sustainable innovation
Graduates of the program have gone on to create measurable impact — from advancing clean-tech start-ups to implementing community-based sustainability programs.
Applications are open through the City of Toronto’s Live Green Toronto website.
