Freeland American Legion Post 473 recently awarded its 2025 scholarships.
The $1,000 scholarships are awarded each year to children or grandchildren of regular members of the post.
The Cpl. Richard Evancho Scholarship was presented to Samantha Martinez, daughter of Manuel and Stacey Martinez. She is attending Northwestern University and is majoring in biomedical engineering. Her grandfather, Edward Sheon, is a regular member of Post 473.
